Ghanaian gospel singer Selina Boateng recently shared her perspective on the challenges faced by famous women in marriage.
In an interview with Doreen Avio on Joy Prime’s Changes show, Boateng revealed that some men intentionally marry women with fame to suppress their success.
“Some come purposely because of your fame.
He’s coming to humble and control you so you won’t get the chance to even do the work of God,” she stated.
Boateng, known for hits like Alpha and Omega, highlighted the disconnect between public personas and private realities.
She explained that the demanding nature of their careers often clashes with marital expectations, especially when partners lack support.
“The media and the work we’re doing is the problem.
When you’re out there, people see you to be different, but the character is a different thing altogether,” she noted.
Her comments come amid personal reflections following her divorce from Isaac Berchie after six years of marriage.
Boateng, who confirmed the split on Okay FM, expressed resilience, stating she feels no shame and is open to remarrying.
She urged young people to carefully evaluate partners and resist societal pressures to rush into marriage, emphasizing the need for emotional and mental preparedness.
Boateng’s candidness extends beyond her music.
A vocal advocate against body shaming, she continues to use her platform to address societal issues, calling for empathy toward public figures facing personal struggles.
Her story underscores the complexities of balancing fame, faith, and personal life in the spotlight.
